Ever so often a craving for tuna salad strikes and this spicy tuna salad is the one I make (10/10), when I want it spicy!
The tuna salad is packed with flavor from homemade chili paste, roasted bell peppers, capers and two types of onions and it’s such a treat for lunches (great with all sorts of bread and vegetables) and even easy dinners too!
Try spicy tuna salad on/in
- Toasted rye bread
- Sweet potato toast
- Sandwiches, wraps and crackers
- Lettuce and cabbage cups/wraps
- Slices of cucumber, zucchini or apple (hors d’oeuvre style)
- Celery
- Bell pepper boats
- Half an avocado
- Thick slices of large heirloom or beefsteak tomatoes (remember to salt’n’pepper the slices!)
- Bed of shredded cabbage or greens (it’s so delicious on a big bed of peppery arugula!)
No homemade chili paste?
Sort of a problem… But you can do without (although I highly suggest you make some – it’s super easy and will add so much delicious flavor and spiciness to everything!).
Instead of using 2 tbsp homemade chili paste in this recipe you can try using 1 tbsp tomato paste, 1-2 tsp maple syrup or Whole30 friendly date sweetener, 1/2 tsp red chili flakes, a pinch of granulated garlic and good quality salt instead.
But really, do yourself a favor and try the chili paste – if you like spicy food, you’re going to love it!
